RDO sensor
For best results, perform a 2-point calibration at these points before going into the
field.
100% calibration point:
Fill bubbler cup with clean water. Turn on the pump, regulate with the pinch a.
valve. Insert the TROLL 9500 into the bubbler, resting the RDO adapter
plate on the rim of the cup. Allow 5-10 minutes for temperature and oxygen
equilibration in the water. Select RDO in the software Navigation tree, click
the Calibrate button, then click Run.
B1
When readings have stabilized, click b. Next. Continue with the Zero Oxygen
Point for a 2-point calibration.
0% calibration point:
Fill the orange-based cal cup with sodium sulfite a.
(Na

) solution and slide it up around the RDO
sensor until the cap and thermistor are completely
submerged. Be sure that there are no air bubbles
on the foil.
Select b. Run in the Zero Oxygen Point screen. When
readings have stabilized, click Next, then Finish to
finalize the calibration.
Rinse c. very thoroughly after calibrating in sodium
sulfite.
The RDO sensor is now calibrated and ready to use.
Turbidity sensor:
The sensor has been factory-calibrated over its full range (0
to 2000 NTU). If field calibration is required, we recommend a zero point calibration.
Use deionized water and the clear flow cell. Make sure that the 3-way valve on the
inflow port is closed.
In the office: Assemble the site data6
The software wizard will prompt for the following information for the output report:
• Well diameter & depth • Pump model & type • Tubing type
• Screen length • Depth to water, top of screen & pump intake
• Tubing inner diameter and length (for software volume calculations)
Install batteries1
Install D-cells in the TROLL 9500a. : Remove the battery
compartment cover, insert batteries, replace cover, and tighten.
Install and charge the RuggedReader battery pack: b.
This process is illustrated in the RuggedReader Quick Start.
To calibrate 100% dissolved oxygen, install alkaline D-cells in the c.
portable air pump as shown on the diagram inside the lid.
Connect the cable2
Remove the red dust caps. Insert the TROLL 9500 connector a.
into the cable connector. Push, twist, and click to lock. The
“click” ensures that the cable is securely attached.
Connect the TROLL Com to the other end of the cable.b.

pH, ORP, and conductivity sensors
Remove the hydration bottle from the pH/ORP sensor. a. Save it to
keep the sensor hydrated between uses.
Use the orange-base cal cup with cutout and indentation. Fill with b.
Quick Cal, slide it up around the sensors, including the RDO cable.
In Win-Situ, tap c. Parameters, tap QuickCal, follow the Wizard.
TIP: Detailed steps for calibration and low-flow software are in the MP TROLL 9500
